Chippewa Valley Little Libraries
Chippewa Valley Little Libraries is a project of the Early Literacy Coalition of the Greater Chippewa Valley. The purpose of our project is to increase access to diverse, high-interest, high-quality books for children ages 0-8, the years during which essential early literacy skills typically develop. The Coalition aims to fulfill this purpose by partnering with community organizations that serve low-income families to introduce little libraries at their facilities. Families with young children visiting those facilities are invited to choose a book from the library to take home and keep. The ability to select a book of their choice to add to their home library will have a positive impact on the reading motivation and later reading skills of participating children. Additionally, each library contains early literacy information to help empower and support parents and caregivers in the literacy development of their children.
This program is made possible by a grant from the Beckermann Family Fund, Charles and Joanne Graaskamp Fund, and Daniel F. and Margaret J. Brown Memorial Fund of the Eau Claire Community Foundation. Additional financial support comes from Royal Credit Union, Eau Claire Morning Rotary, Chippewa County Community Foundation, and the Berkes Social Ministry Fund of Central Lutheran Church.
Help us sustain this program and keep Chippewa Valley Little Libraries stocked with free books for children.
